The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive, (WEEE), 2002/96/EC, sets minimum levels for recycling that must be met but may be exceeded. This directive covers virtually all electrical and electronic equipment used by consumers or intended for professional use. From a legislative perspective, it is already illegal to sell certain electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) into European Union member states where producer registration is already mandatory. The EU has mandated that manufacturers disclose a product’s material content beyond the six (6) RoHS substances for the purpose of assisting waste recyclers with recycling.
IST provides “Turn-Key” WEEE Program Development and Implementation:
IST gathers data which will enable you to declare a components total mass and weight, material composition and the percentage of each of the recyclable substances within the component, as well as the determination of WEEE responsibility.
